1 PD. Posted December 30, 2016 (edited) Only a year late to answer this one, hopefully someone gets use from this. The plants I have been growing for almost ten years now and undoubtedly the most widespread clone that carries the name Bendigo were originally sourced from this plant The clone is from a private garden not associated with the historical gardens of the same locale. 0 Evil Genius Posted December 22, 2015 Yes, would really like to add the plant to the database. So pics and a little bit of background info would be appreciated.
0 GorrilaGardener Posted December 22, 2015 (edited) I believe it was a specimen collected from Dawsons cactus garden in Bendigo. Though I could be off the mark on that one, just what I was told from memory. Interbeing can answer this one... Can take a picture of the cutting when I get home Edited December 22, 2015 by Schoey88
0 wert Posted December 22, 2015 (edited) so heres a baby pup about 5 1/2". I soursed this of a caretaker of the bendigo botanical gardens about 7 years ago. I've been propagating it since hence the small pup. the plant my cutting was taken from was an original cut from the gardens about 40 years ago. the plant in the caretakers garden was about 4 meters tall and was about 5 1/2" in diameter. a real fatty. thats all I know. want to know more and also want to see if there is confusion on the bendigo! 0 2XB Posted December 22, 2015 "Bendigo, T. bridgesii, originates from Bendigo Victoria. 2 huge old plants growing in the front yard of an old house in bendigo, similar looking to bruce although it doesnt disply the morphing that bruce does" From a post by pd in "origin stories" Ive been told it originates from dawsons, which one cutting i got a few years back matches the bridgessi in the front garden at dawsons. I also have heard ppl say ben is bendigo, but the bens ive gotten resemble not the front bridgesii at dawsons but maybe the side one..??? There is at least 2 bridgesii's at dawsons, and maybe a 3rd. Sorry to add more vagueness to the topic ;-)

0 wert Posted December 23, 2015 interesting. so now I don't know if I missinterpreted the info I was given or not? being deaf, dumb & stupid... but the gardener I got it off was retired and old and I'm sure he said it came from the botanical gardens? anyone got any photos of the mature specimens (the 2 or 3 mentioned) so I can determine witch one it is I have posted the pick of??? 0 2XB Posted December 23, 2015 I can only find a pic of one of the bridgesii's I am afraid, this was from october 2015 i think, this is the one on the fenceline (is this the one known as 'ben'????) heres some cuts of the 3 different plants I have rotting This is the one out front which I would call the 'Bendigo' Clone Here is a cut of the one on the fence line Here is the 3rd Bridgesii in the garden, I think its a unique plant but another member who is more cactussy than i says it is prob one of the other 2.... sorry for the crumby shots

0 wert Posted December 23, 2015 ok so the one I got didn't look like it basal puped. seemed to pup about a ft 1/2 above ground level. does this fit the description of either 3 at dawsons?
0 Psyentist Posted December 23, 2015 Here's a pic of the one out the front of Dawson's... I think there could be a semi-monstrose bridgesii from there also.
