Trichocereus Corynot

Question

Hey dudes, I dug out this old plant a few weeks ago, I was thinking it was stetsonia coryne and had it i.d'd by a member as stetsonia coryne but not I'm not too sure, it's started to throw out hairy trich like flower buds and the new spine growth are a dark honey brown, if anyone could help me with an Id that would be sweeeeet, cheers

I'd say its one of a hundred different echinocereus species...

highly doubtful its either a trich or stetsonia; pray the flower opens for ya!

Do echinocereus flowers have hairs? The echinocereus flowers seem more like glochids to me, I always associate hairy flowers with tricho cause of its Latin meaning

I just added another photo to the original post, the Peruvianus 2 pots to the right is my second fattest peru, the fisheye doesn't make it much easier to tell the scale though sorry, either way it's a decent sized plant

Also it's probably worth mentioning the plant was in terrible shape when I dug it out so the multiple offshoots could be an attempt to save itself

the offshoots are definitely not typical of echinocereus either, they usually pup from the base and cluster, but cactus never cease to amaze me. the specimen would be large if its is echinoc, but i saw a guy selling them on FB in 10g pots they were MASSIVE. Good luck figuring it out. Flowers will help.

EDIT: here are some large (imo) echinocereus in 10g pots,,, they can get pretty big in pots

Hard one... Not a Stetsonia, and I guess not an Echinocereus which have spiny buds.. I wouldn't say no to Trichocereus just yet.
