Garden rescue Id's

Question

A couple of mystery cacti from this mornings garden rescue effort.

First s a very very old crest of some description

And the second apart from being very pot bound is ???

Any suggestions as to what they may be?

Coool! I think the crest is some kind of cylindropuntia... Cylindropuntia fulgida var. mammillata?

Like this one maybe?

It could well be bogfrog it certainly looks the part with the long thin but now long dead branches.

Should cristate cylindropuntia's have glochids?

I'm no expert but I reckon no1 may be Trichocereus pasacana .......

I'm not sure about the glochoids, i suppose it varies from species to species, i wouldnt rule it out for not having them.. I reckon it looks very similar to the crest which Philocacti posted a picture of in this thread, http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=35188&page=3

Pretty sure it was post no. 56.

The other cactus doesnt look like a trichocereus to me, some sort of slow developing barrel like cactus...

Hi Shortly, first one is probably like already suggested something in the Opuntua Cylindropuntia Range. Awesome thing. Second one definately not a Trich. Thinking Ferocactus or Echinocactus. Can you post some more pics at natural daylight?
