Darklight Posted November 25, 2012 I'm setting some culture substrate which has a pH of 4. It's a unique formula that I can't change for the purposes of the experiment Is there a gelling agent for culture which won't be impacted at that pH? I can't seem to find an industry standard for this in my field and the ppl I know who would normally know- they don't know either I'd prefer a clear gel as pure as possible to minimise possible effects on the substrate Phytagel at 10g/L is minimally effective, semi-solid at best. Agarose is an option but I don't think it will set at pH4. I don't have much substrate to play with so I can't make up a bunch of test plates for all possible options and concentrations. Anyone have any experience with this?
Pat Uri Posted November 25, 2012 Pectin. Ask any jam maker. Acidity is essential to it's viscosity. Best of luck!
