Opinions on Earthwise Power Saver for evaluation?

Recommended Posts

Hey there

My plant lab power bill is through the roof and I'm looking at options to reduce costs. One option is changing my power supplier. But last night someone told me about this:

http://earthwisepowersavers.com.au/

Given that I am a bear of very little brain, and have limited electrical understanding, I'm seeking feedback on the viability of purchasing one of these from people who have some vocational or academic experience and understanding of it's implications.

On the other hand I believe if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is, or is a scam, or an overly expensive version of something I could get way cheaper. It sounds like a kind of UPS

If indeed it *is* viable to install, is it going to be safe to use with all my microprocessor-ey things like autoclaves, analytical balances, environmental shakers that my appalling power supply regularly destroys?

Will it work or is it a scam?

HOW IT WORKS

http://earthwisepowersavers.com.au/pages/how.html

The Earthwise Power Saver stabilizes voltages and reduces current, enhances power efficiency of electric equipment, avoids supply wastage, saves electrical energy and potentially extends the life of appliances.

The Earthwise Power Saver can recycle the lost electrical power caused by wire loss, harmonic distortion and extra electrical power wasted by starting and running equipment, as it then releases the recycled electrical power back into the electrical circuit to reuse it. This saves power and saves you money.

The Earthwise Power Saver also helps to stabilize voltages and reduces current in your power supplies. It improves the harmonics and reduces the amount of electricity that is used from your Electricity Company.

Installing a single phase Earthwise Power Saver quick, simple and easy.Installed a 3 phase Earthwise Power Saver is quick, simple and easy

This is achieved by supplying electricity locally at the load by the use of a specially designed capacitor. This advanced capacitor stores the additional electricity needed and there by stabilizing electric current within an inductive load.

Therefore, the amount of electricity purchased from our Electricity Company has been greatly reduced and results in electricity savings for our home or office.

Started writing a big old response, but my backyard tech tone became confusing even to me :) Here's some links instead.

Yea, Everybody loves hyperlinks

Edited: didnt read entire post.

have you thought about going solar.. .calculate the consumption of all the devices you are running (in kWh per day) - data should be on a plate riveted to your devices, and I think you will find that a small mono solar cell+ battery bank will be a great option.

Thanks so much for this, I thought it was too good to be true

Given it much thought but the outlay is beyond me right now. And I'd need a roof full of panels. Wish the available teks were more efficient
