Guest xxx Posted August 13, 2008 USER FRIENDLY PEERGUARDIAN FAQ GUIDE-by someone whom has blocked over 800 billion IP ranges. Greetings fellow fiends and pirates,,, I realize there are many sites and much information already concerning peerguardian, but I have been requested to produce some more info to be of more help. The advice you will get here from me is all based upon personal experience and not that of an expected result programming guide. I will give you some skinny from the pages of my memoirs. I have, and still do, block over 800 billion addresses from my PC daily. What is Peergardian and where do I get it? Peerguardian is a small program that runs in the background and blocks many IP ranges from connecting to your IP and even blocks them from downloading or 'leeching' the torrents you are currently also downloading or sharing. It blocks mainly the parties set out to track or monitor what you are downloading or sharing. All the way down to a digital timestamp of the file your are sharing and from where you share it from. They then use this info to issue warnings and copyright notice infringements to those whom IP's are logged. All it takes is them connecting to you, once! Peerguardian is currently only available for XP but is in beta-satges for Vista and something should be available soon. You can visit the homepage & download below: http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/ What else is Peerguardian good for? IT WILL SPOT MANY MANY FAKES! Peerguardian programmers wont tell you this, it wasnt designed this way, but I use it this way everyday! You should ALWAYS view the detials to a torrent before downloading, NEVER just click to download! Take the extra 60 seconds and view the details normally found under the 'details' tab of course. The details tell you everything! Details include: -The exact file details, -name, type, size, is there an nfo? a readme? a sample? -The Tracker announce:!!! PROBABLY THE BEST DETAIL TO KNOW!!!! see below. -The almighty seed/leech ratio. -can be very important! To spot fakes, this is often true, but NOT always. While viewing the details look at this example below which has a tracking address which follow the term Tracker announce: Tracker announce: http://eztvisladinki007.shacknet.nu:6969/announce Now, while using Peerguardian with the option 'http BLOCKED' enabled, you should always have this option enabled while using any sort of P2P program, once again, making sure you have the option 'BLOCK HTTP' enabled, copy the address above the url inside the address, like this: http://eztvisladinki007.shacknet.nu There is a sort of 'web address' or 'url' in EVERY Tracker announce. Like the above. Now again, WHILE MAKING SURE HTTP IS BLOCKED BY PEERGUARDIAN, copy & paste the above link in your internet browser. -Your Peergaurdian, which is currently running and its icon is found in your taskbar, IT WILL BLINK LIKE MAD!! Its blocking anti-p2p http interceptors. These interceptors are out to track and log you!! ITS FAKE< DONT DOWNLOAD!! There's numerous anti-p2p companies out there. They sit on there huge asses all day and they upload fake torrents! Some even viruses! Many files just will never finish to download in your client. They're just messing with you! loggin your tracks, and laughing as they watch hundreds, sometime thousands , attempt to download their files. And all you really get out of the deal is the satisfaction of knowing you have successfully given them your address! Now they know EXACTLY who you are. AND, IP hiders are useless to this, so dont think because you are running hidemyip that you're slick or something, you're only hiding your IP from web pages, not bittorrent clients!! ITS EASY! View the details, copy & paste. if a blink, its goes to waste! FORGET IT! This to me is also why peerguardian rocks. It works. BE SURE to always keep Peerguardian updated, it has an auto-update feature, and always BLOCK HTTP while using P2P!!! Lastly, pay close attention to the seed/leech ratio of a torrent, these companies use fudged numbers while reporting to torrent sites, to get your attention!! If there is an outrageous number of seeds to peers especialy in the games section, its a clear tell sign to definatley view the details and see whats up! They often use the same cheesy fake tracker announce urls, these people are not high-tech or even smart about what they do, be smarter then they are! Copy & Paste with Peerguardian ON! I will close this by listing some more common fake announce urls, remember there are MANY. But ALL will be picked up by Peerguardian with http blocked!!!! Greeeeeetz. More EXAMPLES: http//captian.shacknet.nu:6969/announce http//cronicjuice.dnsdojo.org:6969/announce http//hurcules.serveftp.net:6969/announce http//buccaneer.boldlygoingnowhere.org:6969/announce http//tv-tracker-thepiratebay.org:3399/announce http//darkerbytes.org:2710/announce
Auxin Posted August 13, 2008 Peer Guardian will not make you safe. That always needs to be said right up front. That said it can help reduce the number of harmful connections, in some instances that can help quite alot by diminishing the music and movie indistries illegal DDoS attacks on some P2P networks. So while it wont make you safe it can be quite good to have if it'll run on your system. ..and dude must have been smoking something potent when he said he got it to block 800 billion IPs in a day, theres less than 4.3 billion IPs possible
apothecary Posted August 13, 2008 The RBL for PeerGuardians Australia section is plain SHIT too. They mark an entire C class subnet to NSW Police, a subnet that is frequented by many different ISPs. Why would NSW Police be checking out your bittorrent uploads? Heh.
simon_marklar Posted August 14, 2008 The RBL for PeerGuardians Australia section is plain SHIT too. They mark an entire C class subnet to NSW Police, a subnet that is frequented by many different ISPs. Why would NSW Police be checking out your bittorrent uploads? Heh. i read that that was added by kiddies so they can screen capture the "Blocked access to "NSW POLICE FORCE"" message and post it on their forum posts.(mostly whirlpool forums if i remember correctly) I stopped using peer guarding years ago, after someone submitted my ISPs subnet. that effectively stopped me from receiving any data as a lot of people were using peer guardian back then.
