    The Sowing Out Thread

Thanks EG!! What do you know - all of my little pots are full of baby Bridgesii and spray bottle in hand it seems I'm on the right track! Very reassuring to know. With these temps we've been having lately they dry out by the afternoon daily. Watering them is now the best part of my pre-work ritual! Did have a pot full of Peruvianus but they seemed a little reluctant to live. Hopefully more luck with round two, three, four...

    The Sowing Out Thread

I don't want to ask a stupid question but I have several pots of baby cactus now - between 1 cm and 5cm - am curious about how much water these little guys need??? Have been keeping them watered every few days - treating them as other seedlings basically and not letting the mix dry out too much - is this right?? Please help or please point me to the thread with the answer! They have been going well so far but don't wan to loose them! Sorry for the stupid question.

    Possible Snitch

It has probably been said many times before but spreading the fear only makes the bacon busters' job even easier. The open and friendly nature of this place is its' beauty. I am only new here but have learnt a bucket load because good people have taken the time to share. Spread the knowledge not the paranoia!
  5. Neoshaman - perhaps we should take this over to the Cannabis Law Reform thread?
  6. Light and Love I may be youthful but to be honest I much prefer to find God, your word, in the phenomenolgical sense rather than the metaphysical. I do not have long enough on this earth to sit around and wait for my prays to be answered. I want to get something done. That said we are probably way off course for this thread now. Neoshaman what does it take to join NORML and do you think it would really be effective down here? If you can convince me then surely five other people may read this too...then we do have a movement! FREE EDDY LEPP!!!
  7. Possibly the best argument for why reincarnation exists that I have heard to date! Brilliant! But honestly - everything happens for reason? Holocaust, Car accidents, Rape? Somethings are just down to assholes and ignorance. That said I definately feel your pain - I have talked myself blue in the face to people/friends I thought knew where I was coming from only to be labelled a hippy and a druggy. But my point was not so much about respnisibilty on our full stop but responsibilty to refine our message. At the moment we have a thousand voices screaming about a thousand different aspects of the same thing. Refine the message, and aim low so as not to be disappointed. Maybe I'm still starry-eyed and niave but I still think that if you talk to a thousand people and just one of them turns on, then that is a victory. More peace back at ya!
  8. WOW - we do have passion! I do not believe for one second that we are powerless - that is not to say that it won't be nigh on impossible to get the authorities to recognitise their position on Cannabis. Johndoe - to be honest I agree with you up to a point (and I apologise - by making that re your meds comment, I was contirbuting to the disharmony between us!)- people do need to FULLY understand a system to have any chance of being successful within it. That said I do not think that we are completely hopeless to achieve this. If we could convince (and I am not saying we could) every Queen's Council (QC) Barrister in Australia to admit that they love snorting coke then that shit would be legal in a heart beat! And the fact is they probably have a chuff the next day to deal with the headache! Regarding the comments on California getting ahead because they have more organised and better funded movements - I could not agree more. But we will never get our organtisations to be better funded when they are called OZStoners. Most of the groups in California are called things like the 'Organisation for the advancement of freedom under law for all' (ie they never mention Cannabis at all). Also I have been talking to a few people in the States who were heavily involved in getting Prop215 passed and most of the work they did was at a ground level. By that I mean they were actually going to the supermarkets and getting people to sign petitions and holding formal education nights on the 50, 000 uses for Cannabis. The fact is that normal people just do not have a clue as to how useful Cannabis/Hemp really is. NEWSFLASH - normal people make up juries. So lets educate them! Johndoe you seem to be fairly knowledgable as to the workings of our legal/political (or atleast you type like you do) - so surely you have a responsibilty to turn that knowledge to the advancement of minority positions. I just get the feeling that the machine has crushed your spirit. I can't help but hark back to Alice's Restaurant the song by Arlo Guthrie - "If one of us walks in sits down and sings a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walks oout they'll think you a lunatic. If two of us walk in sit down sing bar of Alice's Resaturant and walk out they think you both f*****ots and they won't take either of ya. But if ten people - i mean ten people walk in sit down sing a bar of Alice's Resaturant and walk out then they'll think it's a movement! AND BY GOD THAT'S WHAT IT WILL BE! I just feel like they have already won if we take a defeatist attitude - they don't even need to try if we think they have already one. As the age old saying goings - WIN OR DIE TRYING. Light and Love - did you ever stop and think that we can enjoy life more because we have clandestine access to these lovely plants and other wonderful things. How many more people would enjoy life more if we who possess the knowledge worked harder to share it? PS. Rick Simpson in Canada is the person I was alluding to regrading THC/Cancer trials.
  9. Just a quick thought - a great deal of the successful court cases in the States have been influenced by the expert witnesses involved, people like Chris Conrad. Now I realise they are way ahead of us, particularly in California, but as far as proving to these numskulls that Cannabis has real and proven medical benefits (not just pain relief but some of the amazing stuff they have been doing with THC and tumour reduction - I will find a link to the published study and post it asap) - would it help us to import some experts??? If they won't take us seriously they may have difficulty in ignoring people whose opinions have already been ratified in real cases. If we can provide some one who can prove that Cannibis is not simply a drug but a medicine don't they have to prove that it is not to deny it? Expert vs Expert. (After reading that statement it sounds a bit like a pipe dream - no pun intended). Either way I think Johndoe's medication is making him cranky - half our problem is we spend so much time getting on eachother's nerves and not realising we are all on the same side. If you have made it to this forum you are passionate about something in this area (or atleast I hope we all are) - it's time for some three musketeers action! One for all and all for one!

    Cactus FAQ Discusion Thread

Thanks for the link Inyan! I recently had great success with some T. Peruvianus seeds and was totally despairing over how to keep my new babies in the best of health! For all those tossing up whether or not to bother growing from seed - invest in a germination box! As long as you keep up the moisture up nature does the rest!

    Cannabis Law Reform

A few thoughts on why we may be having trouble getting everybody's favourite herb the proper place in our society and our legal system: From what I can gather from reading dribs and drabs of the websites of our more organised pro-legalisation groups - there seems to be a general lack of interest in taking baby steps. As the saying goes 'Rome wasn't built in a day'. So how can we expect to go from lunatic laws that put a gram of pot and a gram of crack on the same footing to happy free for all bud? Answer: we cannot. Along these lines it is time we found a few cancer patients, get them trashed and see how they feel. If they love it then lets plaster their picture on the front of every major news paper in the country, not overstating, but simply saying: Cannabis makes me feel better. Nobody wants to get cancer, but if I did I would sure as hell wants something to easy the pain! One hundred stoned terminal cancer patients on the footsteps of parliament house could mobalise more media attention than one million regular stoned people could ever achieve - even if they rolled themselves up into the worlds largest living joint! Second: Who is going to take an orgainsation seriously when the name includes insider lingo like 'stoner'. Whether we are or we are not stoners is beside the point. 'Ma and pa conservative' are never going to even listen for a second when the information comes from a source with such a poorly considred name. I don't mean to preach from the soap box but when people hear MAPS they don't immediately think trippers -they think oh that must be a groups of academics or the like. Don't get me wrong - we need Cannabis movements and we need them to be organised, but United Budheads (or some other fictious organisation) just won't get a hearing in the mainstream press. The Council for the Recognitisation of Cannabis Legislation might though. It pains me deeply that a sacred medicine that is loved and respected the world over can be treated the way Cannabis is. The problem is that if you can get it, and then you smoke it, you no longer feel like you need it to be legal. Imagine if they get their way and find a way to stop us all from getting it - then we will rue the day we sat down and smoked instead of getting up and screaming in one united voice! Citizens have no rights - they have privileges. And we lose more of our privileges by the day. Food for thought? Stupid rant? Something in the middle? Let's get angry! AND THEN LET'S DO SOMETHING!
  12. Just got my copy too - Thank the Heavens for the Trout! I can finally i.d. some of my collection with some certainty. Just as as side note (hope i dont make anyone angry by posting in the wrong spot) - but I've been hitting the Bunnings lately and have wonderful success! A new Trich almost every weekend. Gotta love the irony of the biggest biz in town helping us touch the stone!
