    First subs of 2012 season

it's cool. don't feel bad or anything. as someone who has known, loved, revered and worshipped that patch for about three years now, having 'discovered' it with a bunch of other SAB forum members at our first group camp back in 2009 i have to admit i am protective of this area. not out of greed but only because it's devastating to go there and find huge areas of dug up ground, rubbish and whatnot. i admit, no land is anyone's to own, but i sure as hell have a deep connection to that place, and i'm sure those that were there on that first camp and those that have been introduced in subsequent adventures feel the same. it's more in the interest of longevity. this is our secret, and SAB members united many years ago and were rewarded with its discovery. i wouldn't want to deny anyone the joys that i've experienced as a result, but i'm also wary of letting anyone go there. there was a definite feeling at that camp that we'd earnt this, that we'd been rewarded for our work in the ethno field and that we were being given a key to a beautiful place of power and that we should look after it and spread the goods as far as we could. we all felt that and i believe this feeling has carried on. those that google and go there may not have the same respect for that land and it's magic (though, hopefully once they visit they will feel the same way). i feel like a tight arse but there's such a deep appreciation and respect and sense of awe for that area thats it's really disturbing and upsetting to see the effects left by those that have been there without that same appreciation. in the end, i can only hope that everyone that visits gets the same sense of appreciation, respect and understanding of just how valuable the area is and that they pick up rubbish, leave offerings, spread spores, share the gifts and conduct themselves in a way that is conducive to long term work with this area. and most importantly...don't pick pins...don't dig up mycellium and give thanks to the land and it's spirits for the gifts that they share.

i don't want to sound like a dick but can we please not mention specific areas. e.g state forests... there are many people that may not appreciate having their treasured locations broadcast to the world, not to mention they'd rather not worry about those said locations becoming hot spots for figures of authority. lets be like the mushrooms and keep underground? by all means, if someone asks and you feel generous you can take them there, tip them off, whatever but i don't think it's a good idea to have these locations published online and easily googleable. p.s this is isn't coming from a place of greed. there is always enough for everyone every year. but lets be sensible with the information. personally i don't want a situation like in WA, where the known spots are so well known they are regularly patrolled.

hey tonic. I used to trek around the northern suburbs a bit, finding places pretty similar to what you described. sadly never found any subs on the north side, even though i knew exactly what to look for and knew when they were fruiting (they were fruiting in other parts of sydney) and all of the places i was checking seemed perfect for huuge flushes. i checked back on a whole bunch of spots weekly but never found any... i did leave a shit load of mycellium and spores laying around in those places though....so who knows.... i sincerly hope that you are triumphant this season.

as far as i know there won't be any actives in Queensland at the moment or in July. from what i've heard you'll have to wait till the summer months... correct me if i'm wrong but the woodloving variety don't fruit that far north because it doesn't get cold enough. july is also a bit late for woodlovers elsewhere in my experience, it's usually too cold and frosty by then. but i'm only speaking from my experience in NSW.

too true. react with fear...and you get fear. react with questions and you get to the heart of the matter. which is, it's you and was always ever only you. you just didn't realise how much you there was you didn't know about. i think they call this 'the cosmic joke'.

lets not resort to gross judgements here. my life rules dude, it's awesome. i'm not interested in these things because my life lacks meaning. i'm interested in this stuff because it's downright interesting! not everyone can be written off as a paranoid. it's like me saying 'this guy doesn't agree therefore he must be a fat, mcdonalds eating dumbass'. 7baz has presented some interesting links and information and some of it looks to be backed up by some news stories. i understand that everyone has different ideas about what is going on, but most of the criticsm being expressed is in the vein of 'this is bullshit. it's all conspiracy theory' rather than any actual arguments over the information. i don't mind either way. i'm not committed to any beliefs or ideas, this stuff might be true or it might not be. in the end, i can't (and wouldn't care to) convince anyone of anything but i don't mind a bit of discussion ;)

yeah but what about the rest? it's not a bad list to present for the sake of the argument. i'd say it shows certain people working in that industry are getting very nervous about their future. mass resignations are a lot different to mass firings. which go on in industries all the time.

I didn't make any claims and try not to if i can avoid it because i don't think anyone knows the whole story. i get my information from all over the place. not just fringe websites. there's plenty of evidence in your mainstream media too if you read between the lines. same reason we didn't hear anything about the bankers in iceland being thrown in jail. http://articles.businessinsider.com/2011-12-01/europe/30461990_1_glitnir-bank-icelandic-usd if you wanted you could entertain the idea that the media is controlled by these very 'big guys' and they only print what is in their interests. as for the lizards... never believed in them myself until a particularly long piece of san pedro fell upon my head and knocked me out, causing visions of amongst other things reptillian entities inhabiting the planet under various guises. similar revelations and visions have been had since when i slipped on some mushrooms and hit my head again. i shit you not. no claim on what it means, if its real etc but i thought it pretty interesting and it certainly opened my mind a little more to the possibility of such things. you'd be amazed what a knock on the head will do to some people.

Psylo Dread chill you seem hellbent on proving this wrong. I don't get why it irks you so much. Everything you see and read should be approached with an open mind. If you don't like it move along, no point jumping up and down trying to convince people things are true or bullshit. I had a listen and a lot of sounds on par with much of the other research I've done on these topics. Whitewind and everyone else, I would urge you to look into these things if they are of interest to you. There's not just one or two nutbags making these videos but a bit of a movement that has been growing over the years where a lot of different 'theories' actually seem to be holding up after some time and more and more people coming forward and backing up claims or proving stuff correct. I mean, we don't seriously still believe the 9/11 story given by the media do we? And yet, I remember when I first heard about it, it seemed like a joke. It didn't seem possible. Ten years later and it seems so clear and obvious. Sure, it seems a bit strange at the start, but once you look into these things it gets a bit harder to keep your head in the sand and deny that something is going on.

damn. everyone remiscing about their old tapes. i found a goldmine at vinnies a few years ago. someone cleared out their grunge and metal collection. sadly i passed them on, thinking 'who am i to be the keeper of such glories'. an old forum member and i used to take drives out to the blue mountains on the search for the fungi. we'd leave at 4am. the only cassette we had was dark side of the moon. it used to cycle around and around as the sun came up, as we headed home with our bags of goodies. side one would end and side two would come through a few minutes later. around and around it went. i love that shit! i will keep my eye out dude and hopefully you will become the keeper of new cassette glories!

reptyle your posts have a lot of really good information. it's true that these plants need to be treated seriously and shamanically. the trip should start well before anything is actually ingested and a focus mind with purpose and planning should be employed. you're written style reminds me of Dale Pendell's Pharmako Trilogy are you familiar with those books? you should also check out Ars Philtron by Daniel Shulke if you are interested in making magickal brews of this nature.

How long will Liquid Culture keep?

i kept one in the fridge that was working 12 months later. but yeah i believe they need to be refridgerated to induce dormancy otherwise it keeps growing and will eventually die due to lack of nutrients. perhaps you could shoot some sterilised glucose in every 6 months to give it more to feed off if you can't keep it in the fridge.

  18. Hey everyone. It's been a bit of time since I've been able to indulge in my mycological interests and I'm shocked to find I no longer have any spore prints. If anyone can help out with a p. cubensis print for microscopy purposes I can trade Acacia Obtusifolia seeds for your troubles. Any help is much appreciated.

Is it normal to feel mild euphoria from coffee?

i thought thats why people drank it? i always get a bit pepped up when i drink coffee. if i've had a strong one, i definitely feel a mild euphoria, nervous energy. agree with chilli that i'm sure if you drank it everyday it would cease to have these effects. moderation everyone! we don't want no coffee heads out there wrecking the place!

smelt the flowers of a huge brug tree near a bus stop last friday afternoon. beautiful! can't say it did much that i was aware of but i did have a pleasant afternoon. that night I lost my phone somewhere in transit. no idea where, don't remember putting it down or taking it out of my bag. i suspect slightly that the scent may have had something to do with my lapse of awareness. perhaps the plant spirit was trying to help me by getting rid of my phone for me!

one look at the dude and i'm sure most people will realise he's a big bigger and stronger than most people, he's well trained in martial arts and shamanism. i wouldn't go anywhere near that dose unless i was a kung fu master and had my shit together spiritually and physically. i don't think you could do it unless you did. and i'm sure one look at the amount of 20-30g dried will make most people question if they can even get that into their bodies. that said, some of the experiences he mentioned can be achieved through as little as 5-8g of cubes or even 2g of subs. so be careful everyone, you don't have to take massive doses to find yourself in strange places. no doubt that praying manti are cool. when i see them in the garden i take the time to talk with them or give my respects. they are much nicer in their earthly physical representations, when you are dealing with them in your world and they are only tiny little insects. but if you come crashing in to their dimension, best to be nice because they can do a lot of things there that they can't do here. and if you've ever squashed one out in the garden, you just might meet his pissed off brother!

I checked out his talk at EGA this year. Very interesting. Essentially covered similar things that he spoke about with Rak. That we as a species need to explore these areas and start working towards a singularity. Overall, it's great to hear someone talking about this stuff. No one covers things like warfare in hyperspace and most don't mention the mantis men. Understandably it's strange enough talking about mushrooms to some people let alone telling them the types of experiences that are possible. I myself have had run in's with Mantis men several times on high doses and can definitely relate to being fed off by bigger entities. A bit of reading on astral travelling, magick, banishing and shamanic techniques such as shape shifting, invisibility or mantras can help out a lot if you find yourself in these situations. Getting yourself some allies in the spirit world helps as well. You can call upon them for assistance if you need. I used to try and fight any hostile beings off. Now I just go invisible or visualise a ball of white light protecting me. It usually works and is the standard procedure in ceremonial magick or astral travelling. This is what shamans have done for thousands of years, but it takes an experience of being attacked by Cthonic insectoids to help you to take it seriously. For the record I've not gone over 15 dried grams of cubes. That was plenty enough, definitely broke through some boundaries though I don't doubt there are many more still unexplored. Lucky we got guys like Kilindi out there doing this work!
