    Graham Hancock video interview

Heya people, For those of you unfamiliar with the site knowdrugs.net I'd recommend checking it out, some very interesting and engaging material. The following link is for a 30 minute video interview with author Graham Hancock regarding consciousness expansion, ayahuasca, and law-reform. I found it to be quite topical and well-informed, hopefully you will enjoy it too. http://www.knowdrugs.net/blog/2011/03/author-graham-hancock-on-drugs-freedom-and-consciousness/ Soma

    Home-grown heroes

hey fellow psychonauts, Thought I'd share a little bit of tripper eye-candy that my gnome was good enough to pass onto me. She tells me that they were grown on her special family recipe (modified BRF PF tek - can provide more info if anyone is interested...), and that the strain was mexi-cub (she thinks...). The monster pinned before the cake was birthed, and was expected to break/fall off during dunking and rolling, but instead survived to grow into a 10'' beauty peace.. soma

    Home-grown heroes

hey crazy, no, i'm told that all the cakes fruited several times. It's just after a couple of flushes and the fact that there are plenty of cakes being harvested and dunked at slightly different times that the chamber soon becomes out of whack and not all the cakes flush at once. I'm sure you realise what i'm getting at.... And yes, my gnome dunks o'night (or from morning to evening) just after birthing and between flushes. She also gives them a good roll in verm after the first dunk only. peace..

    Home-grown heroes

hey everyone, thx for the replies. no offence taken HK. I'm really suprised that bag tek works considering the lack of fresh air exchange....? I would have thought that the cakes wouldn't manage to pin, let alone produce yields like that. Also, I didn't realise the nook was still up, I thought it got shut down?.... Anyway, for those interested here is my gnome's modified PF recipe; - the normal 1:1:2 ratio of water:special rice flour mix:vermiculite - the rice flour mix is comprised of a 3:1 ratio of ground long grain organic brown rice (ground in a coffee grinder): rice bran (nb. rice bran is ground rice husk and I add it in an attempt to boost the nutrient content of the blend) - 6 drops of liquid seaweed extract per 4 cups of water/flour/verm mix (again this is added to boost the nitrogen and other nutrients content) questions/comments/criticisms/grievences welcome... peace..

    Yield decrease with cold weather?

Hi, This is my friends first decent size grow in the middle of winter and he wants to know what to expect in terms of yld decrease due to the cold. The temp in the grow room would vary from about 15-20 degrees C (on avg.) throughout the day and night. He has looked into various means of heating the grow/room but they have proved infeasible so is going to just let it go and see how things pan out. The cakes have managed to pin in the past couple of days (took 10-12 days, which is actually normal in his experience in summer). So, my real question is - since they HAVE managed to pin should he still expect a significant decrease in yld to what he is used to, or have they made it thru the most difficult stage and should now fruit normally? He is concerned because he is not used to these cold conditions and because 1 cake fruited early and only managed 3, 1-2 inch long mature fruits. Do you think he should expect this of the remaining cakes (another 29 left to fruit!!)?

    contaminations - pink mould

ah, my bad - guess i should have spent a bit more time reading i was told that lipstick mold spores are often present in ould wooden cupboards and the like, maybe since ur casings had been around so long they picked some up from the surrounding environment. 5 flushes on a casing, dam

    Yield decrease with cold weather?

no i haven't insulated the tub, good idea though after checking the temp a couple of times throughout the night i think it is above 20 degrees at all times, so i guess it should be sweet

    Yield decrease with cold weather?

thanks a lot for the replies everyone, much appreciated. my friend just implemented a tub in tub/aquarium heater setup. he set the heater to 30 degrees celcius and the FC is now at a constant 25 degrees. i expect that the temp. of the FC will still drop a couple of degrees overnight which is why i havent changed the temp setting to drop it down to 22 degrees. what do you think, should i decrease the temp slightly or leave it as is cheers

    contaminations - pink mould

i've battled with lipstick mould quite a bit. my initial grow attempts were innoc'd with LC and EVERY single jar became contam'd with it every time. I left one sterile jar aside and it didn't contam so it was obviously from innoculation I then moved to multi-spore (and innoc'd in the exact same way) and did not see it again. Lipstick mold can be easily overtaken by myc if it has already somewhat colonised the jar. i'm deff not endorsing playing around with contams considering the risks involved - however i have on numerous occasions succesfully fruited jars that were contam'd with lipstick in their early stages of growth. it is a mold and as such (opposite to bacteria contams) is introduced at innoc and not due to incomplete sterilization. i'd work on your syringe prep and innoc techniques. (sorry if i've repeated anything previously mentioned, i only quickly scanned thru past posts) peace

    Yield decrease with cold weather?

also, my friend doesn't like to leave the heater running when he isn't home. is periodic times of heat better than a more constant yet less optimal temp? gettin a bit complex here. cheers for any thoughts though

    Yield decrease with cold weather?

haha yeh he can't seem to produce casings without contam from trich mould (bane of his existence!!), so he just does bulk cake grows. cheers for the reply, after reading it my mate checked the grow temp and it was 14 degrees C, so obviously it does get below 15. He does have a small heater, just one of those simple ones that is a heater and a fan - when you turn it to heat a heating mantle in front of the fan fires up. If he were to point this at the FC to try and maintain a temp of 20 degrees C do you think it could significantly dry out the cakes - since the heater merely blows hot air directly at the grow?? Should he set it back a few feet or point it off at an agle to the FC? cheers people

    Cases still not fruiting!!

thanks a lot HK, might make a trip into Target this afternoon and check it out

    Cases still not fruiting!!

cheers sphinx, yeh i use that setup for my incubator and agree they work well. my FC however is too large to place inside another tank (and i don't really want to use a smaller one). i think i might just go for the oil heater and leave it on overnight and off during the day.
  24. soma_seeker

    Cases still not fruiting!!

hi sphinx, from the look of ur setup i would think they need considerably more light, perhaps thats what caused those strange pins. i don't mean to hijack the thread, but it seems like a valid place to ask this question.... for my new grow i'm going to need a heat source, what do you think is a better solution - using a baby oil heater or wrapping the fruiting chamber in an electric blanket?? (bearing in mind i would NOT be leaving either heater or 24/7 due to the amount of electricity it would consume) cheers people soma
