Hey guys, I know this has been discussed before, but does anyone have any tips for growing B. Caapi and P. Viridis outdoors in the Central Highlands area of Victoria? I currently grow both in a small greenhouse but they need more space. Is it possible to acclimatize them to the Victorian climate without killing them? I read that starting from seed outdoors can help grow a hardy plant right off the bat. Anyone have any experience with this? Appreciate any input!

Share your interesting Ethnobotanical related videos/presentations/lectures
squidgygoanna replied to squidgygoanna's topic in Ethnobotany
That was the thought I had also All of the ESPD50 videos can also be found here: https://vimeo.com/spectralalchemy EGA Presentations: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwI-l5M7QJoEw4dV8cf1flg I found the EGA Presentation by Snu on Australian Psychoactive Acacias particularly interesting. In a similar vein, this presentation on 5-MeO-DMT containing plants by Julian Palmer was just as fascinating -

Besides the obvious Encyclopedia of Psychoactives, what are your favourite Ethnobotany related books? Currently reading One River by Wade Davis, details the work of Richard Schultes aswell as his own ethnobotanical adventures. Very interesting stuff

1080 is horrible stuff. Took my dogs to the coast in Vic this past weekend, had to skip some beaches because they'd put baits all along them. Pretty infuriating.

Spider mites on cactus - metho spray?
squidgygoanna replied to od101010's topic in Cacti & Succulents
I use a DIY neem oil bug spray for spider mites on my plants which works really well (neem oil, warm water and a little dish soap) I assume it's safe for use on cacti also since it's all natural -
Good luck man! I've been chasing this plant for many years and have never seen it come up

Hey Moose! Had some success using this method myself many years ago. PC is definitely preferable, but fractional sterilization can be used successfully. There are a few threads getting around other forums that outline the process, this one might be useful

I've had good experience growing peres hydroponically under lights. Never even thought about grafting to them under those conditions. Might give it a try

I occasionally have spare packs of dehydrated home grown lions mane that I give to friends and family for use in tinctures/capsules, if anyone is interested feel free to PM me and we can arrange a trade or something

It's believed that all mushrooms in the genus Hericium contain Erinacines and share the same medicinal compounds. From a paper on H. Corraloides

I remember doing a bunch of research on this a few years ago. From memory I could never find much information on the Homalomena. Every article mentioned the genus but never the exact species used in the brew. I vaguely recall reading that the natives had been asked but refused to disclose any more info. This was years ago, so there might be some new information available or something I might have missed. Definitely an interesting subject. Galbulimima bark is supposedly partially active on its own. Never tried it myself due to the lack of reports. I believe there were some bio-assays done by SAB members a while ago
