Griffonia simplicifolia cultivation

Recommended Posts

i've got seeds and i put them in 50/50 perlite & vermiculite.

soaked the seeds for 15 minuets before in warm water.

is this method sounds ok?

when should i move em to regular soil?

and i have another question - what is the weird smell of the seeds??? they produces some stinky gas !

it sort of smells like Anadenanthera seeds :) , must be the 5HTP. As a coincidence, i've got some soaking in warm water right now as well ^_^

Keep them hot i hear...

Rev had some success a few years ago and posted about it, it should be accessable via a search.

If not, it was bizarre and was the only time I ever got germinations out of that batch- or any other.

Take one-a them 15 watt twin fluro set ups on a stand, put the seeds 1/2 way down some CSS and bag the pots with clear plastic. Put the pots on the ballast ( hot ) end of the fluro stand ( making sure they can't melt or cause any damage ) and stick in a low light sitch.

I've tried everything and never gotten far. I think I even tried to repeat the experiment and failed. I've cooked them, I've kept them at 30C, I've tried GA3, I've tried no light... good luck with it people :)

funny that everywhere i read it says: east to grow from seeds :D

i guess its not so easy.

i will try soaking the spare seeds in warm water for couple of hours and than i'll plant them somwhere...

i will be sad if they will not sprout...its hard to find fresh seeds of griffonia...

those are dead dude

stone dead and funky

if you sterilise them they will die

if you fungicide them they will die

if you soak them they will die

if they are older than a few months they are dead

BUT...

other than that they are hardy little fuckers!

like anadenathera plant DRY seeds into MOIST sand in a HEATWAVE

the seed stake all the moisture they need from the sand and germ in 48 hours

or at least chang colour - dead ones swell and go black - live ones swell and go white, then green (dicots)

i foun d that was fast but the rest of germinatuon took aaaages

but they get there in the end

and once they are up they are suprisingly cold hardy for a west african

prod me a bit and ill dig up pics..

oh yeah if they do come up suing the above tricks plz give me a source asap!

rev thanks on the info.

i looked and half of them already died... :(:(:(

they changed their color to brown/black.

some of the seeds i soaked in water were half open (will they survive?) and some of the seeds with no change.

my chances now for germination i say....15%???

or less...damn.

do u know where can i get the freshest seeds of griffo?

thanks!

one i soaked from the start was green in colour, all the rest were brownish/black, not very funky at all, only that slight smell, not as funky as what tomer's sound like.
