At the very least it is a fast, easily assimilable nitrogen source. I believe the sclerotia called Philosopher's Stones are more relaxed because of their content of adenosine which acts in the opposite sense as caffeine. Guest electro Posted February 19, 2004 or a simple caffiene extraction (decaffienation ) no acid or base hot water extract filter solids out combine liquid with dcm (distilled from paint thinner etc if you have no source for it) shake seperate & evap the dcm layer to dryness (full of caffeine xtals) there are school science projects on the net detailing this procedure.
