Rev Posted October 3, 2004 There was some talk over at EA on the use of Opuntia subulata and similar looking species as a potential pereskiopsis like grafting stock Electro has used one and i guess were waiting to hear back about success I sliced some cuttings off mine a few days ago to see that the Vascular ring is really close to the skin and in the centre is a whole lot of white parenchyma (correct term?) Being so close to the skin might be really good for wedge grafting or flat grafting areoles onto the side of stems like they suggets with pereskiopsis see http://www.lapshin.org/cultivar/N12/articl-e.htm These cacti can be locally abundant - though not round here I hope someone has a go with them [ 03.
