Mothershabooboo Posted April 25, 2004 Hey guys, Just wandering what are the main things that you do differently when growing these cacti? Do you use a different soil mixture or anything like that? Maybe there are no differences? Please help
Torsten Posted April 26, 2004 peyote really needs a cactus style mix, while the Trichs are happy in most fairly well draining soil (we even grow them in clay). Also, it is almost impossible to overwater trichs in summer.
Mothershabooboo Posted April 26, 2004 So what soil mix would you recommend for peyote? [ 26. April 2004, 00:12: Message edited by: Mothershabooboo ]
Torsten Posted April 27, 2004 if you don't know much about making potting mixes then best to go for a commercial cactus mix. Just don't buy the cheapest one....
smogs Posted April 27, 2004 trich can deal with much more water whereas peyote can be over watered quiet easilly in winter and die. Also san pedro grows MUCH faster.
Flip Posted May 6, 2004 The best method is to learn as much as you can of the enviroment where the plant in question is native to. dupicate / modify that information to your local enviroment. maximize the conditions with experimentation and common sense.
