Spurious Posted April 5, 2003 How does one use the good stuff in various cacti? Everything I've found requires extractions and messing about. I realise different compounds are found in different species. What methods of ingestion preparation is there, and how do they differ from one species to another ? Keen to try. Don't really know. Better ask the experts!

planthelper Posted April 6, 2003 hmm, loph or pedro stuff reminds me of those water crystals added to potting mixtures. people here know a lot.. btw, i quite like the taste of loph and pedro. but, even health food makes you sick(tastes foul), if you over do it. aswell, its better to have a very open mind about the taste and smell of substances. there are poisons that kill and smell nice. but if it tastes very bitter, dont say bad things, because it upsets.., mostly your (s)elfe experience. Tryptameanie Posted April 11, 2003 Boiled up cacti has the consistancy of snot. However, I read posts here( or at ethnobotany-australia.net?) that said using a pressure cooker breaks down the slime to make a drinkable( still foul tasting) solution. What you should do depends on how strong your stomach is- anything from just eating the green tissue to extracting and gel-capping the alkoloids. There lots of info around, do some research to find the best method for you. [ 11. April 2003, 16:42: Message edited by: Ramon ]
VINS Posted April 12, 2003 don't use a blender in my opinion: i have try a mix of fruits juice and cacti in a blender and the result was ....do you know the SLAGME like in gosthbusters or the BLUB? same thing ! an E.T green drink! maybe i have to say food instead of drink because it was really solid and difficult to eat.(horrible sensation but not bad in taste) first effect after 20mn and during hours.... dry powder in a yogourt seems better way [ 12. ramon Posted April 12, 2003 Have had to edit a number of posts because they mentioned processing mescaline containing cacti in some manner. I imagine that there would be nothing illegal in processing cacti in general as many cacti don't contain mescaline or if what was being talked about was clearly only hypothetical [ 12.
