M S Smith Posted May 28, 2002 t st tantra, there is a nice photo of a plant claimed to be T. tephracanthus in the Simon & Schuster's Guide to Cacti and Succulents. It has also been known under the names Cereus and Roseocereus. I'm unsure if it is presently classified as an Echinopsis or not. I couldn't find the photo that you mentioned. Could you post the direct link? Michael

M S Smith Posted June 12, 2002 Got it, page six! That picture is so ratically different than the very T. pachanoi-peruvian-like cacti in the Simon & Schuster guide. The one in the photo barely even looks like a Trichocereus to me.

M S Smith Posted June 14, 2002 Oh, that's easy, T. smrzianus (Echinopsis smrziana). This is really a nice plant, but quite rare. It also takes forever to grow from seed. I got one of these awhile back and it is getting ready to bloom for me. Sorry I was so confused.
