Ed Dunkel Posted December 5, 2002 I have a oldish (woody core formed) T. pachanoi stock that I want to graft a 2-3 year old button or a smallish side shoot onto. Will this be a bad choice as the woody centre is hard to cut through cleanly? Or are there techniques around this that could work? Anyone tried it? Cosmic Debris Posted December 8, 2002 In my opinion it would be better to wait for it to produce a pup and graft it onto that http://sphosting.com/cactus/grafting_stock.html under Corking, Pupping and Root Rot Concerns, it says "When corking of the tissue does occur, this will restrict the flow of nutrients to the scion, resulting in stagnant growth"
