Columnar Cactus ID please

milrabbin

Question

Hey folks, I bought this cactus a while ago from a private seller but at the time I didn't think to ask where it was sourced. Looking for any advice to see if it's an active species. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Some measurements I've taken to help ID:

areoles: 3cm apart, prominent V shaped ridge above each, 3-7 spines in each.
spines: base yellow-green and tips reddish brown when young, up to 4cm long
body: 5-7 ribs

Hello there! What you have there is a rather attractive looking trichocereus bridgesii, or bridgesoid dominant  trichocereus hybrid. There's almost 100% chance you have the real deal...

Just so you know, anything to do about consumption tends to be off limits in the forums!

Trichocereus bridgesii by the look of it

Thank you katu! Are there any particular features that make you more confident it is a bridgesii? (or is it more of a feel/intution that has been built up over time with IDing?)
