☽Ţ ҉ĥϋηϠ₡яღ☯ॐ€ðяئॐ♡Pϟiℓℴϟℴ Posted November 11, 2016 (edited) I found my first wild uk sourced rei shi (i think) on some kinda north american oak ... i took the nicest freshest young specimen from the bunch and it smelled great! so I was wondering if Photinia is an ok substrate for growing consumables upon because I'd love to grow my own rei shi tea :3 reason I'm asking is: I found a hole in my photinia tree and rammed the bracket of reishi in it just in case they like eachother... I gather Photinia has been known to be toxic to the Equine but I can possibly take on my human form to try them out if successful :3... Does anybody have experience oor further knowledge on Photinia as a substrate for medicinal/consumable fungi? If not , would it home the fungus happily as a carrier until I get a correct wood such as Alder, oak, beech, poplar, douglas fir etc..? thank you for your time and have a super weekend! -Hoss Edited November 19, 2016 by ☽Ţ ҉ĥϋηϠ₡яღ☯ॐ€ðяئॐ♡Pϟiℓℴϟℴ to add piccies :
immanuel Posted November 11, 2016 (edited) i haven't grown edibles for a long time but when i did i was always very wary of the amount of heat i exposed them to and try to listen to the spirit thinking about contaminants and the products being used in the house etc. some of the mushrooms are very divine i think for me when i have done it, google can be useful just to form some sort of foundation to go off when trying to interpret what a specific plant wants in its growth. i have added numerous things to soil beds such as tea leaves, sometimes green tea or black.. or composting other plants in the garden i have bonds or from sacred areas i think it comes down trusting the heart. sorry i can't be more specific, but it is the general approach i have Edited October 27, 2017 by manu
Change Posted November 12, 2016 I dont know much about Photinia so i cant give you any advice in that area. But if your worried about the reishi spawn dying before you get a more suitable wood, try putting it on some sterilized rye grain. I didnt get the time and space to fruit it, but i can confirm that reishi happily colonized rye grain.
