FancyPants Posted May 1, 2015 Curious to these huge mushrooms growing locally around bamboo mulch in suburbia. Are they boletus of some kind? A phlebopus marginatus? They were huge like 20-30cm diameter. Also the yellowish ones were in the same area what are those?
0 ∂an Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) The first two could be austroboletus species, I've found similar ones in eucalypt forests recently in nsw. Edit: actually after looking at these pics of different boletes found in near by qld, it's definitely not austroboletus... http://qldfungi.org.au/resources-2/foq-main-page/foq-species-list/boletes Edited May 1, 2015 by ∂an
0 Anodyne Posted May 2, 2015 First ones look a lot like Suillellus luridus, but I'm not sure if the distribution is right - might be some Aussie equivalent, or something else entirely. Do they bruise blue?
0 jonathan Posted May 10, 2015 The ones on the left do look a bit like Phlebopus marginatus, though usually associated with Eucalypts. Actually, yesterday I just found what I think is P.m. near the Grampians. Cut in half the flesh was yellow and not the rapid blue bruising one can see in other Australian boletes.
