fresh valerian leaves-how much to use for tea?

for one person, how should i go about preparing fresh valerian leaves for consumption?

amount of leaves? weight?

Try the roots! I've never heard of leaves being used but maybe I'm wrong... It has happened this one time before.. ;)

I didn't know you can use the leaves. I've got a nice bushy valerian plant that I've been contemplating digging up some time soon. It'd be great if I could just harvest some of the leaves instead and let the roots grow for another year.

^ you can uproot it, harvest some roots, and then replant & as long as there is some root system left it will carry on.

I split/divide/harvest mine like this regularly with no problems.

I'm pretty sure the leaves are not medicinally active.
