Looks great, Sagi! The weeds are pretty ferocious, but the cacti still look pretty good and healthy.

I fully expect there will be nothing to protect in spring, this winter is just getting worse and worse... But if they can survive this, they can survive anything, I think this is the coldest winter in the last 50 years at least. Today in that location it's been -6 degrees celsius with wind gusts up to 100 kmh...

the most ferocious winter in 50 years here was just some -2 for couple hours... well somewhat less in that spot

like Micromegas had said, plant them, forget them , then in 2-3 years they will have established.

well he didnt exactly say this, but you get my drift...

Yeah, well as I said, mine have been in the ground for about 2 years now, and I'm not sure they will survive this winter. I'm about a thousand km north of you, so the winters are naturally colder, and this one has been very cold. Hopefully at least some will pull through. And if not, I will plant some more in the spring until I find a few strains that can handle our winters. But since all of these already in the ground survived last winter without a scratch, maybe they will survive this one with just a few scars.

I think they're gonna be fine.. Note that there are some useful plants around that cacti, not only weeds:  levander, louisa, pommegranade, and soil cloth  in a couple of the pictures...

I won't have to worry about grasshoppers, every single trich died from the cold this winter. :(:(:(

Yup... :( Coldest winter in at least 50 years in this area, probably longer. Some nights it went down to -10!! Even some days were below zero until noon! That never happened during my lifetime. I hope you are right, and this cold won't become a common occurrence. Last winter, not even a tiny scar on any on them. This winter, even a few of my indoor kept plants died (a few bridgesiis and all variagetes) :(. At the moment, I don't have the will to plant any more of them in the ground, but I probably will this summer or next.
