Glastonbury Festival

Glastonbury has joined a number of other UK music festivals in banning legal highs. The substances are designed to mimic the effects of drugs like cocaine. However a recent report showed that there has been an 80% rise in deaths from taking them.

The Festival has now joined a campaign highlighting that legal does not mean safe. Laura Makin-Isherwood reports... [video *]

As the authorities ban formerly not too risky legal substances, manufacturers devise new ones, of unknown character, with unknown risks, and unleash them on an unsuspecting public, which assumes that because something is legal, it must be safe, or the govt. wouldn't allow it to be sold.
