Evil Genius Posted August 29, 2013 Hi Guys! It finally happened!!! Just like i mentioned a few times before, im living in the coldest House on Earth due to the lack of good Insulation and stuff! Like Eskimo-Pussy Cold Cold. I have an Oil Heater but since Heating Oil is extremely expensive in germany, i usually froze off my ass from september to April! So i wanted to get my a Wood Ofen because im basically living in the Woods and have more wood than i can handle! So i was saving up my money for what felt like years and was finally able to buy one few months ago. Model is called Barcelona and has between 4 and 10 KW! Haleluja! I bought it in the DIY Store because they had their prices reduced to get out last years models. So i paid something like 699 Euros instead of 1300 which was great as the ofen looks pretty neat too. So those guys delivered it to my house and left it on the Road. It weighs 250 Kilo and my friends are nowhere to be found when its about moving heavy objects up my mountain. I live on Top of a Mountain and the Ofen had to be carried up about 50 steps which was a pretty impossible task for me alone. So i asked a moving company to carry it up. At first i thought about booking 3 or 4 Students but i wasnt really sure they could lift that Mofo. So Moving Company said it wasnt a problem and asked for 150 Euros. I said "fine" and made an appointment. So the day my Ofen was delivered i get a call from the moving company that they were held up and wouldnt make it that day. As i didnt have the money to buy another one in case it would get stolen, i was pretty shocked and told them they´d need to make it the day no matter how late caus i couldnt leave it beside the road over night. Took until 11 pm till they were finally here and at that point, it was already dark night. The moving guys were three thin Africans that were probably doing that heavy work for very few money and were shocked to see the hill they´d have to carry that monster ofen up. So they grabbed it for a few seconds and gave up after it almost fell to the ground. So they said they´d have to come back the other day with a fourth guy. There was nothing i could do so i spent the night in the garden watching over my ofen. Cold as fuck and was hearing blair witch like sounds from the forrest. Whatever, as long as blair witch doesnt steal my ofen. So next day, the moving company comes back and tells me price just went up. Like, 250 Euro up. As i had no other option and knew its a hell of a work, i agreed. They didnt bring a fourth man but had some better gear like belts straps and stuff. After a few meters, it was clear i´d have to help. Almost killed my back and was nearly smashed by the falling ofen but after a hell of a work, the ofen finally made it´s way into my house. Praise to the Moving Company for lifting that monster up...didnt really believe it would happen until it was up there. Now i needed someone who can install the ofen plus i needed to buy a stainless steel chimney for outside. My Budget was pretty thin and most chimney builders were too expensive. Only had something like 2k left and it needed to be done before the winter, as cold season is about to hit germany soon and i dont have money left for heating oil. So i i advertised my concern on a Craftsmen Website and got a reply only few hours after i posted it. Someone that was living 200 Miles away was making a similar chimney in my town and could do it the day before. For 450. As the date was like 5 days later and i didnt have a chimney yet, i had to move my ass to get the chimney fast. Was looking at some of the sets on ebay and asked some of the sellers if i could use one of them on my house. Had to send pictures and shit to show them the whole setup and it turned out the sets were not usuable for me. So i was lucky i hadnt bought one already. One of the Chminey Firms made me a pretty good Offer and agreed to send me the chimney as a cash on delivery package the very same day so it would arrive for the Ofen Builder to install it. The chimney arrived the very next day in three large and heavy packages and did cost me 690 Euro. Lots of money but with so few time left, i needed one and the price was fair. Yesterday, the heating assembler arrived and build the thing. Very professional Guy! Im so glad i chose this one as there were two situations he had to "build" new Parts to make it fit as there were problems with existing voltage lines, telefone cords and shit. I instantly went out to buy a large crate of Odin Trunk Beer and a pack of wood to celebrate! Drank too much Odin Beer over the day so i almost missed making the first fire caus i was drunk as shit but finally managed to get the wood in at like 9 pm. So yeah, long Story Short! I finally got Wood and the fire´s burning right fucking now!

etherealdrifter Posted August 29, 2013 ofen when that sort of thing happens - usually but not ofen - the ofen's flue is totally inkorecktorally installed. If that happens, the ofen's smoke leaks everywhere - phew good install on the ofens flue pipe bro *tips hat at professional ofen installer. Good effort with that sized ofen but i'd imagine it's ofen quite worth it. -just imagining the EG crouching like hidden tiger watching his ofen and guarding against ofen bandits in the cold cold eskimo pussy night is quite visual .and, yeah for odin....odin rules - Thor’s Equinox ist strong birre. don't cha love it when shit turns out looks like that conveyor belt from the bottom to the top of the mountain isn't such a bad idea aye?

ballzac Posted August 29, 2013 Good to hear you finally got it all sorted I've suddenly got a hankering for some German beer for some reason. Might have to order a crate of Aventinus or Aecht Schlenkerla
Evil Genius Posted August 29, 2013 Yeah, thank you guys! Cant tell you how much this means to me because having cold is one of the worst things in the world and im fairly optimistic these days are over now! Ballzac, my favorite brands of beer are Karlsberg Ur-Pils, Karlsberg Bock (Strong Black Beer), Bitburger and the Odin Trunk which is some kind of Met. You know, the the Beer/Honey Mix that was drank during the medieval! It´s usually too sweet for my taste but sometimes i can drink it. But only in large quantities. naja naja Posted August 29, 2013 (edited) UMM, THE OFEN LOOKS COOL, BUT STRANGE nOT LIKE WAT WE SEE IN aUSTRALIA, sry cap lock was on I have one of these and I spend most of winter in shorts, no t-shirt. Would this work in your land or is it just too wussy for your temps? They cost around $1200 AUD http://www.jhc.com.au/products/radiant-wood-heaters/pioneer/ Edited August 29, 2013 by naja naja
Evil Genius Posted August 29, 2013 Hi Naja, the design on the one i´ve bought is pretty common in germany. Didnt know they´d look kinda diffrent in other Countries so thanks for the Link. That Ofen would definately work too but i´ve never seen one like that around here yet. According to the sheet, it is able to heat about 250 square meters so it could heat my house more than twice! Sounds pretty good! Cant really tell how much heat the one i´ve bought produces but im really looking forward to find it out in the next weeks. First time im waiting for the weather getting colder.
