woof woof woof Posted June 20, 2013 Hola Amigos,... hahaha,... or hey peeps,... I am looking at the possibility of some serious cactus cultivation here on the island. I have been looking at the Nopales of mexico. There are soooooo many cultivars available. AS far as I know some are Opuntia Ficus Indica,.... but here s the thing,... most of them don't look anything anymore as the opuntia ficus indica. I am trying to find more info on the cultivars and also people that are willing to send pads overseas. here is an awesome vid with lots of info on Nopales,... unfortunately it is in Spanish..... I am pretty decent at spanish,... so if you want anything explained,.. just reply to this topic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAnl2H8KT5w&NR=1&feature=endscreen As far as I know ,.. nopales are grown for 3 reasons,... animal feed, fruits (called Tuna) and for Nopalitos,.... Nopalitos are de-skinnd Nopal pads cut into pieces and then either potted up like normal vegges or roasted...... supposed to be good eating,.. never tried it. I am of course more focused on the fruit bearing cultivars.
