Adenium Germination

Recommended Posts

A mate came over last night with a heap of Adenium seeds for me so I am trying to work out what is the best way to germinate these. The instructions that he received was to place between moist paper towel in a plastic bag. I am not normally a fan of germinating seeds this way but if it is the best way to go then thats what I will do.

This will be my first time with these so any other tips would be appreciated.

Cheers

soak over night in water. lay them down on soil and very lightly cover with sand. they will sprout pretty quick if they are viable.

I got a heap of seeds and had excellent germination. But I killed alot over the next couple weeks. I advice fast draining mix and tiny pots. water regularly while hot and don't water at all when cold. And pray you don't get spidermite as I had all sorts of trouble getting rid of it once I had them.

Thanks Stillman

Would you use the same mix that I am useing for cacti germination. I am using a low organic mix made up of course sand, zeolite and Attapulgite clay / diatomite and only about 20 percent seed raising mix or just use straight seed raising mix.

yep something that drys quick, they love a drink but they don't like wet roots. In summer in the hot you can water them flat out but when it coos off I let them dry right up.

They are tricky hey, but I really like them, I want a double flower or triple. Bought heaps of seed OS but so far all normal. Kills me because you can't import these plants you know, one thing America and Europe has over us.
