mindperformer Posted October 2, 2012 (edited) The lemon tea tree (Leptospermum citratum syn. L. petersonii) has an absolutely wonderful sweet lemongras taste, as tea, as spice and chewed. For me it has almost euphoric action. It is related to Manuka (Leptospermum scoparium, sedative, antiphlogistic and anxiolytic) and grows in New Zealand and Australia. Does anyone know about traditional medicinal usage? My plant: Edited October 2, 2012 by mindperformer
Yeti101 Posted October 3, 2012 I've always loved the smell of this - would be interested to see if anyone else has any information on it - I've never heard anything.
mindperformer Posted October 3, 2012 Its similar in smell as the lemon myrtle (Backhousia citriodora): but personally I like Leptospermum more. ...but Backhousia was even antidepressive for me and it was reported to cause a release of endorphines...
rafa Posted December 23, 2012 I've both. leptospermum is used as medicinal tea for fever. it has antiseptic properties also, and backhousia is used againts stomac pains and also like spice. But they coul be interchangeables. happy christmas
