shortly Posted September 28, 2012 Seeing as the good folks here abouts often have a good grasp on all things horticultural i figured i should as here. I had the good fortune recently to come by a small Teosinte (Zea mexicana) plant, it wasn't something i was actively chasing but i just couldn't go past a plant with such an interesting story. Given that my plant came from shipards herb farm there is a high probability that many of the plants circulating in herb circles are all the same clone. I know it is perennial & quite happy to reproduce by stolons, however I would like to get some seed off it down the track. So does anyone know if Teosinte is self fertile? And where one might find seed?
gecko Posted January 4, 2013 yeah, pretty sure it is. I have some in from last year... it grew a bit of seed but was late and didn't fill out before the frost got it. this year's is looking better.
