Acacia ID in Vietnam

Question

Hello everyone,

Yet another Acacia ID. Certainly not my forte but am trying to learn more.. Hopefully some of the great minds on here can help.. Found here:

Latitude - 12°15'59.21"N

Longitude- 109°12'11.73"E

If you punch that into Google Earth, It is the grove of trees lining the road next to the beach.. Salty air..

My uneducated eyes see a possible A. mangium, but the phyllode looks a little narrow.. The seed pods look the same though..

I'm very sorry for the terrible pics.. My phone wouldn't do as it's told! Hopefully good enough for an ID..

Thanks in advance...

Thanks for the reply..

The bark was sort of smooth-ish with patches of rougher.. :BANGHEAD2: I forgot to take a pic of the bark!

yeah, probably neither concurrens nor leiocalyx if the bark was smooth... are the secondary veins anastomosing or just straight/parallel?

concurrens seed pods can split and get quite twisted like that at times when they're really dry... the seed pods in your pic do look a bit wide though.

have a look here, you might find it...

sometimes it's easier just to fill in the length of the phyllodes, and click through the results until you find something that resembles what you've got.

Thanks for the link..

There is a secondary vein the runs up between the main vein that branches out every 7 - 12mm and connects back to the main vein..

Not sure if that qualifies for anastomosing..
