I have a small amount of edible prickly pear seeds if any one is interested in trading. Not sure if they are opuntia tuna or opuntia ficus-indica but they produce a large sweet red edible fruit about 100 mm. long.Possibly illegal to cultivate in N.S.W. see ya.

I seem to remember that some opuntia species have small amounts of phenylethylamines like mescaline in there flesh (not fruit).

Do you know if your prickly pears contain any?

Hi Ed

Sorry but I have no idea of the pharmocology of this plant except I think the paddles(leaves/branches)called nopal have some medicinal uses in south America.see ya.

That's alright as I just found the page where it was on

Try this page: http://users.lycaeum.org/~iamklaus/opuntia.htm

And here is the source(?) page: http://users.lycaeum.org/~iamklaus/cactindx.htm

I knew a little bit of work would get me there
