Banisteria chrysophylla?

Recommended Posts

In his Pharmocotheon, Ott mentions an Australian plant in the ayahuasca section.

"Banisteria chrysophylla (=Heteropterys chrysophylla; Gates 1982), incorrectly cited as Banisteriopsis crysophylla [sic] (in Deulofen 1967), has been reported to contain alkaloids (Webb 1949)". p. 211.

Any ideas, info, on this plant?

Just did a quick search of the web, and it looks like it's actually from Brazil (which makes a lot more sense).

I wonder what Ott has been eating.

It is not an escaped brasillian that was thought to be native to Australia around the early 1900's?

Anymore info on this one...
