Should I Take Pollen?

Recommended Posts

Hi, guys.

I believe some of my bridgesii are starting to put out tiny shoots where they will flower. If they are flowering then should I take some pollen and save it?

How should I collect it and store it?

Also, are they self fertile or do they need pollen from another plant?

You can use some Q-Tips to collect some of them pollen and store em in ziplock bags afterwards. They do need Pollen from another plant but im sure someone here would be willing to donate some. You could also try the method i described in the pinned thread in the cactus forum about how to create intergeneric hybrids by using cement to force it to accept its own pollen. But if this is your first try, you should rather try pollen of another plant. This way you get way more seeds. Also its more interesting because you dont know what comes out of the cross. You could even use some Echinopsis pollen to make the cross. There are few limits...
