domeboy Posted March 16, 2012 Hi guys, I was just reading about the growing hyphal tip, and found that hyphae secrete different ions such as Ca2+ near the apex. I was thinking that this might be a really simple way to control fungi on plants and could be done in a really enviro friendly way. Maybe by making a fungicide that increases/decreases the concentrations of these ions. Does anyone know if this has been done before? Or maybe if this is how fungicides already work? http://www.yorku.ca/planters/images/How_does_a_hypha_grow.png
