zahsone Posted March 14, 2012 Second one - Myrtillocactus cochal maybe?
Evil Genius Posted March 14, 2012 I believe it definately is some kind of fungal infection. The fucked up wool production on the areoles is a good indicator for that. I have an infected cactus that did something similar. But its possible that the infection is only a secondary symptom because it suffered from spidermites. They usually prepare the ground for the fungals. Did you check for them?
cactuscarl Posted March 14, 2012 Hey thanks for the info guys I checked for spider mite no sign of them and the rest of the cactus looks fine, just that one pup that had it. I didn't know witches bloom was a fungal infection, so can you get rid of it with a fungiside? Mertillocactus hey? I wouldn't have guessed that cheers
PhoenixSon Posted March 14, 2012 I had a thread on it at one stage, ended up an insect was living inside the cactus causing some wierd arse mutations...
PhoenixSon Posted March 14, 2012 Did it happen before or after the cut?
cactuscarl Posted March 15, 2012 Before the cut i only pulled it off so i could get a pic of it and because it's my only equidorian pachanoi I don't think it'd be an insect as the rest of the cactus looks fine but ill have a good look this arvo cheers
