Bridgesii monstrose?

Question

Saw this at a florist today, could it be a monstrose Echinopsis - perhaps a Bridgesii? Or is it simply a lookalike?

Cereus monstrose =] Looks nice though

Thanks, I'm really curious about how to tell that it's a Cereus, since what I usually look for is the rib shape to discern between the two. But with monstrose forms, it hardly has any ribs, its all just one big.. glob :)

So how did you determine it's a Cereus instead of a Bridgesii?

Monstrose bridgesii doesnt have any ribs (except when the pups first emerge) and the spines are only at the base of the segments. It basically looks like a bunch of dicks growing off each other (hence the common name penis plant) :bong:

Thanks for helping out :)

Too bad it wasn't a Bridgesii, but my regular Pachanoi is already getting plenty of comments from female visitors..

Its a lovely cactus anyway. The only place i can find them around here (especially at that size) is in rich people's yards B)

It's a fascinating plant, but also pretty grotesque.. I can't shake the feeling that each time I look at it, it whispers "kiillll... meeee...."
