Wanted - Agaricus bisporus print

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I wish to explore the world of mycology and thought that I would start with the basics.

I am seeking an Agaricus bisporus print to try for my first grow attempt, if someone has some for sale? Or can show me where to find such a thing.

I was also wondering if it were possible to take a spore print from store bought shrooms? Although I would then be unsure what kind of chemicals have been used in the cultivation process.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

peace

Hey hey cornillius maximus,

and welcome!

If you're just getting into mushroom cultivation then I'd very much suggest cutting your teeth on

oyster mushrooms as opposed to an agaricus....in my opinion oysters are much easier to grow

you might be able to get a spore print off of a store bought one but a better route would be to propagate the mycelium

via tissue culture (ie taking a piece from the stem) and growing that out.

I can plate up an oyster (pleurotus ostreatus) and post it off if you're keen to have a go.

Cheers,
