I think we had a discussion on a similar looking cactus (Which I acquired :P) and the general consensus was a Cereus of some sort due to the fluff?

Oddly enough i cant find ANY pictures of a cereus crest that looks the same, edit: until i found this -http://www.cactus-art.biz/schede/CEREUS/Cereus_sp/Cereus_sp_wild_crest/Cereus_sp_wild_crest.htm

and believe me it was the first thing i looked up, She called them a brain cactus and said it will revert to columnar growth, supposedly, and only the pups stay crested or something.

the cresting and reverting sounds ridiculously similar to my adult CPM's.....

on the other not...no chance at all it could be a echinopsis oxygona baby? im still with CxM of some sort but thought id just chuck it out there

Nice score indeed.....did Tim by one aswell? :D should have bought me one

Hi 2Deep, i think we can rule out E. Oxygona because it does not have those thin brown spines. Spination is typical for a Cereus monstrose.

I dunno but I've got something with similar wispy spines. I reckon mine's a notocactus magnificus monstrose. I'd post a pic but I'm really embarrased that I let it get monstered by snails :(

Thats sad, bit. Would love to see it. Did it flower yet? I´ve never seen a Notocactus Magnificus with white warts like that and i really think it is a cereus but i sure as hell wouldnt say its impossible the be something else. Its just more likely to be cereus because they are more common, have such warts, the same spines and a notocactus-crest that would produce such white warts would just be so diffrent from the regular growth. That must be one hell of a mutation. :) bye Eg

It could be some kind of mutated Notocactus Leninghausii though. I know theres a crested one out there that could potentially put out growth like this when young. Would love to see pics later on.
