0 Evil Genius Posted February 16, 2012 Now we´re talking. ;-) Second one looks like a massive Stenocereus (maybe griseus). Love it. First one is one of the pretty common monstrose cereus species. bye Eg
0 fydesvindico Posted February 16, 2012 cheers Eg, was thinking steno. u think the cereus is a peruvians, or forbesii? just, most peruvians that I see have white to yellow flowers... this ones rocking pink going on red.
0 Evil Genius Posted February 16, 2012 Would say its Forbesii if the flowers that pinkish. Spines fit as well to a certain degree.
0 paradox Posted February 16, 2012 (edited) i think the pink bits are just the outer layer of the flower that surround & protect the petals before they open. not sure of the technical term for this part of the flowers anatomy? it is this colour in many trichs also.. the intensity of the redish/ pink colour varies from plant to plant. the flowers in your pic aren't yet fully open. edit: but yeah EG is probably right about forbesii Edited February 16, 2012 by paradox

0 2Deep2Handle Posted February 24, 2012 im going to second the Forbesii, as although ive never seen one, ive seen enough CPM's to tell you that there flowers are indeed white with some yellowing, but NEVER any pink going on red on the inner face of the petals. Occaisonally, the tips of the outside of the petals (the bits you see when its closed up) may present with a slight pink - burgundy tinge.. Those flowers are beautiful man... I live near Beechmont, and was wondering where this beauty was and if you were or knew the owner....would love a small cutting, or even some pollen to try and put on my CPM's. See below theead for CPM pics of flowers and pollination sucess... http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=31014
