unknown cacti maybe a Trich ID

Question

I was given this fresh cutting for my Birthday and am curious if anyone can ID it it is a nice robust thick cacti should be good for root stock as I can get alot more. ANy Ideas?DSCF2239.jpg

wow, it looks a lot like a cereus, but i don't know for sure, it is very cool looking

I have no I dea what it is but the mother plant has been there for a very long time. Probably around the mid seventies I was told. Its a bit more unusual than the big cereus you see around Brisbane normally.

I'd say with 95% certainty it's a Cereus. But it's a weird one for sure! :P

it does have some segmentation in the columns so I guess it is a cereus, but uncommon for my area anyway. I'll have to get a photo of the mother.
