Echelon Posted August 22, 2011 (edited) I am hoping that some forum members would be able to provide some valuable feedback and assist with identification of the following acacia specimens. As many of you know, Acacia identification can be quite a daunting task when starting out. I apologise for the quality of the pictures. I should have actually taken a snap of the whole tree and also the bark. Please let me know if you require any more snaps (whole tree or bark) to assist with the identification. Any input would be most appreciated. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Edited August 23, 2011 by Echelon

Major Tom, thanks for the Juliflorae tip, there are just so many different Acacia's, the more I investigate the more confusing it seems to get! Heffa Posted August 23, 2011 (edited) Well you almost definately know the first one and i seem to remember hearing word of interesting bio-essays (no references) Edited August 23, 2011 by Heffa
Heretic Posted August 29, 2011 According to the Christian Ratch encyclopedia A. Baileyana contains tetrahydroharmane. I recall reading somewhere of speculation that an ayahuasca analogue might be possible using just acacias - one species to provide the MAOI, the other the DMT. Would be interesting to hear if any body has tried it.
gerbil Posted August 30, 2011 dont really have the time to look deep into 'em, also doesn't help when there is no locational data, it can be very important and helpful with ID, i'm guessing you are VIC/NSW. You're possibly looking at: 1 baileyana 2 longifolia complex, leaning sophorae 3 pycnantha 4 longifolia complex, leaning longifolia 5 pycnantha 6 verniciflua
