Reason rang Conscience the other day and said that ‘they’ wanted to set up a meet.

I agreed this business had to be settled. So I went to the designated point and waited. Four hours and dozen later, they came.

Hate suddenly appeared out of the settling night mist. He was swinging a chain with a massive padlock of Ego hanging off of it.

Envy cowering behind a wall of Anger, whispered something into Hate’s right lobe. Hate breathed out a cloud of red fumes, combed his greasy, black hair and advanced towards me.

Admiration held hands with Love, all the time pleading for Sanity to rise up and show herself.

Sanity, watching the unfolding proceedings, just wept.

I stood there naked.

We were at odds…again.

My physical self was now transparent.

I was alone…again.

Sorrow tried to pervade Hate’s heart but it only slowed him momentarily.

Love and Admiration sensed this and smiled at each other.

Justice descended from the moonlit sky above us.

HALT THIS insanity …AT ONCE!

Insanity grappling with his mind shook it hard. His eye fell out, his tongues choked.

Love grew and towered above them all

The black door opened and sucked Hate into oblivion

The moon left, the sun rose, my face returned and it was warm

I walked through the white door, side by side with Forgiveness

Into the unknown
