I was hunting medicine and found a population of these critters that I think resemble lilly-of-the-valley but with short stems and more traditional flowers that are red with 3 petals and kind of a floral clove scent. The leaves are thick and leathery and waxy and dull green on both sides. They grow in intense sun on a sandy slope with little water. My instincts screamed medicine. My medicine instincts are usually right (tho the last one was a pro-fertility drug that induces simultaneous vomiting and diarrhea ) so I'm curious what these guys are.
edit: ok I forgot how the veination in lilly-of-the-valley leaf is, I guess these probably arent close-ish relatives
