tripsis Posted March 31, 2011 Have been reading about Peperomia galioides recently and am quite interested in it, as it appears to be very useful. The following information has come from SS: Said to be the most important medicinal Peperomia by Pino, used for “everything” - an effective painkiller, compress for wound healing, calming sedative, even for hair loss! The plant contains quinones, sesquiterpenes and over 70 over compounds in the essential oil including limonene, eugenol, safrole, etc. Extracts have been shown to be effective against staph infection abd the deadly chagas and leishmaniasis parasites. Has a delcious balsam with a hint of lemon aroma when crushed. We love to chew this plant! Is anyone aware of what it is in this plant that is useful as a painkiller? teeko Posted April 12, 2011 Wow. That is exciting to hear. I have a few different Peperomia species around my house in pots, and some in terrariums/vivariums. Time to look into propagation eh. Thank You.
