0 Torsten Posted March 14, 2011 the second one looks like Tibouchina. For the first one we'd need more detail and different angles [especially emerging leaves and fruit/seed].
0 shamanic plants Posted March 14, 2011 ok, I'll put new pictures to see if it is a variety of Psychotria .... and thanks for the identification of the second photo!! shamanic-plants
0 Zaka Posted March 14, 2011 Irie, Looking like palicourea lasiantha. Most palicourea are synonymous with Psychotria(?). Respect, Z
0 shamanic plants Posted March 15, 2011 Zaka friend thanks for the name, which is a synonym of Psychotria or is a variety of Psychotria? shamanic-plants
0 DarkSpark Posted March 17, 2011 I THINK what Zaka Means is that they are Synonymous, meaning that they are VERY similar to Psychotria, or more-so the Sub-Genus Heteropsychotria... However they have been left separate due to the diversity in the pyschotria Genus already ! My identification of these plants isn't so good but hopefully this helps with the understanding of what Zaka meant.
0 Zaka Posted March 19, 2011 Irie, That's basically it. What happen many years ago when they went around collecting specimens, some would id them as Psychotria, then someone else would find a plant in a different area and would call it Palicourea. This lead to much confusion which they are still sorting out..... Respect, Z
