0 ballzac Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) The first one looks like a bridgesii x peruvianus to me. Really nice find for a bunnings cactus. Second is cereus. I gather third is an opuntia, but there's probably other stuff with that shape that I don't know of. Edited February 23, 2011 by ballzac

0 dreamscape Posted February 23, 2011 Is there any way to know for sure?
0 ballzac Posted February 23, 2011 Id say the first one be plain ol bridgesii. Really? Two things led me to believe hybrid. The spines are much thicker than is usual for bridgesii. Also, they spination is more regular. Bridgesii often have their spines pointing in random direction, the spination here looks much more like that on many hybrids I've seen. That said, you've seen a lot more hybrids than me.
0 PD. Posted February 23, 2011 Yeh just looks like a lil bridgie that has had a hard life which is no surprise considering where it was purchased lol.
0 Evil Genius Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) Pass is right, that first one is bridgesii. Looks like it has a brown bug on the left sife of its head too. Dreamscape, If you Scrape that thing off with a knife, the cactus will pay you back with love and call you daddy. bye Eg Edited February 23, 2011 by Evil Genius
0 2Deep2Handle Posted February 23, 2011 plain bridgesii based on new deformed-penis-like growth cereus.....pretty sure peruviana (peruvian apple) third is opuntia some kind of prickly pear
0 Teotzlcoatl Posted February 23, 2011 1) Trichocereus bridgesii 2) Cereus species 3) Opuntia species
0 dreamscape Posted February 24, 2011 Evil genius you said that those marking was a bug, is that right? I'd hate it to spread to my other precious spiky greenies. So just scrape it off and keep it out of the rain. Am keen to know what the bug is called if it is. Think i've seen it before on other cacti before.
0 solomon Posted February 24, 2011 Not too sure if EG is right about that being a bug.. looks like scarring to me. Best to play it safe and investigate it as it could be a type of scale or similar.
