Bizarre Kitchen Suprise

Question

So, my roommate was messing around with some microscopy stuff in the kitchen last weekend, and it seems he might have gotten those spores all over the place in there. Lo and behold, he sent me this picture on his phone today of something that sprouted under our kitchen sink of all places!

Now I don't know if this was sheer coincidence (our place is pretty "dank") but I haven't heard much of these things sprouting in culinary areas.

He tells me the spores he was looking at were of the Psilocybe Cubensis Amazon strain - does this look like it could be one of those? (apologies for the bad angle, this is all he sent me, I'll have to investigate more when I actually get home this weekend!)

I'll go out on a limb here and say it's not possible to go from spores to fruit in a week especially when it would take about 3 days for the mushroom to get to that stage from a pin. The cap kinda looks like a cube... but the colour of the whole photo looks off to be honest.

If you're growing fungus off random wood in the kitchen i'd do some major cleaning before I tried anything sterile.

Good pic :) I like house mushrooms.

A picture of the gills would be handy for id purposes. One thing is for sure, it's not Psilocybe cubensis or any other active mushroom. Pretty cool regardless!
