MindExpansion Posted January 7, 2009 (edited) Just wondering if it was possible to store bulk substrate. It is soaking in water and has been for a day, does it need to be squeezed and pasteurised for storage, perhaps pasteurising again before use? Or is it not worth trying to keep it? Really only needs to be kept for a week. Peace Edited January 7, 2009 by MindExpansion
MindExpansion Posted January 8, 2009 Bump. Could 2 bags of pasteurised horse poo/straw/coir be kept double bagged in oven bags? Really only need it stored for a week, but would be nice to know how long it could be kept for. Peace
El Presidente Hillbillios Posted January 8, 2009 I'm no expert by a long way..... but i reckon that they're only pasturised and if you keep them a week or so without freezing them. All the nasties in there that dont have to compete with any mycellium or similar may start to multiply pretty quickly. even pasturising them again may not knock down the numbers enough to have a contamination free start. just guessing really, i dont really know.
