Bag searches in shops.

Cavity searches can be performed by a doctor with a court order. But what if they had a court order and a doctor but one was to physically resist it, do they have the aurthority to hold you down and do it forcibly

My partner and I recently returned from a holiday overseas in Ireland. Whilst leaving Dunnes, which I believe to be one of their biggest department stores, she automatically showed her bag to the security guard on exit. The poor man seemed freaked out and looked at her like she was the elephant man. I was about to do the same but opted for asking if it's abnormal to check peoples bags. He said things to the effect that their customers keep the business open by buying stuff so they are treated with respect. But apparently employees get their bags checked, and then something or rather about the weather and potatoes. I think after reading through this thread I'll have to try saying no, just scared I'll wet myself when the adrenaline kicks in. I do get very adrenalisated when I get in situations like that. And on a side note hello everyone, it's good to be back in Australia and lurking these forums again.

Anyone who has this happen should seek legal advise, especially if it has been inferred in public that you "stole" something.

It's obviously been too long now, but I don't really know what would be the best to do if it happened again. I don't have the money to pay a lawyer every time I get threatened/assaulted/slandered. The security guard lied to me about my rights, and made the claim in public that they had footage of me stealing. I do wish I had've done more, but maybe it's a case of picking your battles. Maybe I've stood up for myself enough by not letting them search my bag in the first place. I never got a call back, and I never called them again.

If you squeeze hard enough, you can make it pretty difficult for them, lol. I wonder how many people have walked out of Dan Murphy's with a bottle of Beam up their arse. On second thoughts, they probably wouldn't go for the square bottle.

security training teaches guards that they must have permission to look through a bag and cannot if you say no.

the sign is to lead the general civilian into thinking that it is lawful for them to search bags.

For them to arrest you, security training states that:

1. you see the customer enter the store empty handed

2. you do not loose sight of the customer while they are in the store at any point

3. the customer leaves the store with an item

4. the customer turns away from the store and begins to walk off

unless all 4 stages are met they cannot do anything at all. sue that mother fucker for touching you. you can legally walk out of a shop and turn around and come back in without paying!!

for the record, an example security training tells students is of

- a manager asked a suspected patron to enter the office to talk to him suspecting they shop lifted

- security escorted them to the office, entered the room and the guard stood infront of the office door

- the man had not shop lifted

- the man sued the shop for arrest/detainment as the guard blocked off his exit point

absolute scum of the employee world in my opinion security guards are and i couldnt give a crap who i offend, have had plenty of experience with them throughout the years in cooperation with workplaces i have worked for and even had the bad fortune to have a relationship with a woman who turned security guard (or as she insisted security officer)..also a good friend who turned guard.

all they would ever talk about after they got their so called licence is how they chased some kid, crap they write in code in little black books, the reverse fulcrum move they can use to render anybody useless, how they are better than police and on and on and on and on................bullshit fuckin rent a cops is a compliment they should not even get, rent a fat ugly power hungry useless nobody is more like it.

at the end of the day the pricks have got no more power than you and me, in fact they have less as judges know full well that most of them overuse and overstep the boundarys because they are so caught up within their own self percieved power.

in my experience there is 2 types of security guard....the sleeper or the nazi

the sleeper is basically a scaredy cat who is doing the job for money and thats it, nothing ever happens on there shift or ever written in the black book..even when something happens they dont see it

the nazi makes something happen, they feel they must fill the black book with a full quota of spraypainting 10 year olds, high speed chases with trolley theives and endless coffees with shop owners and cops

if you owned a shop what would you rather, i think i would rather 10 years of service with a book that said absolutely nothing at all, that means when the sleeper comes on shift you can be happy knowing bugger all is gonna go wrong.

sue that mother fucker for touching you.

I was that directed at me? I don't recall saying he actually laid a hand on me.
