apothecary Posted January 27, 2008 mu, I believe the term is lateral inhibition where dark/light receptor rods in the eye "compete" for firing off neurons to the brain, so there is a sort of overlap. So mostly neurons arrive in the right order but every couple of neurons might be a "perceive dark" instruction to the brain when it should have been "perceive light" instruction...
