The "ethnobotany" community in the US seems to have a vastly different feel (especially in regards to a lack of cohesiveness), my guess is mostly due to the fact that most/whatever they want can simply be ordered off the net. Down under we grow our own everything and this fosters not only plant-human relationships but also human-human relationships (of course with the intent of more plant-human relationships ). So as far as I know there is no directly ethnobotany related type shenanigans going down in the US (I'd love to be wrong so correct me if I am!), however if you are after maybe something more on the fringe (i.e. simply some trippers present) you could check out Burning Man or Bonnaroo and similar events.
